YUFE Connects: Professor Aleksandra Kustra-Rogatka’s Research Fellowship at the University of Antwerp

From 20 to 30 April 2026, Professor Aleksandra Kustra-Rogatka from the Faculty of Law and Administration at Nicolaus Copernicus University completed a research fellowship at the University of Antwerp within the framework of the YUFE CONNECTS – The European Platform for Academic Cooperation at Nicolaus Copernicus University programme. The fellowship was carried out under the academic supervision and at the invitation of Professor Patricia Popelier.

The main objective of the stay was to strengthen scientific cooperation with the Government and Law research group at the University of Antwerp. During the fellowship, Professor Kustra-Rogatka conducted an extensive literature and library review and further developed her research on the judgment of the Court of Justice of the European Union in case C-448/23.

One of the first outcomes of this work was the presentation entitled Constitutional Courts in Europe and Limits of Judicial Dialogue: Lessons from C-448/23, delivered on 15 May 2026 in Ljubljana during the annual conference of the ICON-S International Society of Public Law – Central and Eastern European Chapter.

The research conducted during the fellowship also contributed substantially to the preparation of a case commentary on the C-448/23 judgment, which is planned for publication in the Maastricht Journal of European and Comparative Law.

The research stay strengthened international academic cooperation, supported ongoing research activities, and created new opportunities for future collaboration in the fields of constitutional law, European law, and judicial dialogue.
