YUFE Connects: Dr Arkadiusz Karwacki’s Research Fellowship at the University of Rome Tor Vergata

From 20 to 26 April 2026, Dr Arkadiusz Karwacki, Professor at Nicolaus Copernicus University, undertook a research trip entitled “The universality of vulnerability – operationalisation for the purposes of a diagnostic model and a synthetic indicator of territorial diversity”, the main aim of which was to collaborate with Professor Andrea Volterrani of Tor Vergata University in Rome. The programme of the visit also included a meeting with Prof. Michele Sorice and PhD students at the Department of Sociology and Communication at La Sapienza University. Above all, however, the Karwacki & Volterrani duo worked on refining the model for diagnosing vulnerability, the structure of their next joint article, and a presentation for the upcoming congress of the European Sociological Association. As this was yet another research visit by Prof. Karwacki to the younger of Rome’s universities, it provided an opportunity for pleasant meetings with the international projects office team and other sociologists from the university.
