YUFE Connects: Research on Demographic Change Presented at the AAG Annual Meeting in San Francisco
As part of the NAWA YUFE Connects – European Platform for Academic Cooperation project, Professor Stefania Środa-Murawska from Nicolaus Copernicus University participated in the 2026 Annual Meeting of the American Association of Geographers (AAG), held in San Francisco, USA, from 17 to 21 March 2026.
During the conference, Professor Środa-Murawska presented the results of the international study entitled “Youth Retention and Demographic Ageing in Medium-sized University Cities: Comparative Analysis of Toruń, Rijeka, and Bremen within the YUFE Network.” The presentation focused on demographic challenges facing medium-sized university cities and highlighted the role of higher education institutions in supporting sustainable urban development and retaining young people.
An important element of the visit was the establishment of new international research contacts and discussions with scholars from leading academic institutions, creating opportunities for future collaborative research projects, comparative publications, and initiatives within the YUFE Alliance.
