YUFE Students’ Summer Odyssey Has Begun!

On 10 August, the YUFE Students’ Summer Odyssey – Summer School in Social and Environmental Psychology officially began – another international initiative implemented within the “YUFE Connects” project.

For two weeks in August, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń is welcoming students and doctoral researchers from YUFE partner universities. Participants are developing their knowledge and research skills in social and environmental psychology under the guidance of scholars from Poland and abroad.

The programme, prepared by the Institute of Psychology at Nicolaus Copernicus University, combines academic classes conducted in English with practical field research. During the first week in Toruń, participants explore contemporary theories and research methods in social and environmental psychology, including place attachment, social memory, intergroup relations, and attitudes towards diversity. In the second week, the Summer School moves to Chełmno, where participants will put theory into practice through field research focusing on people–place relationships and the functioning and experience of urban spaces.

The academic programme is supervised by Professor Maria Lewicka, while Dr Michał Główczewski is responsible for the organisational coordination of the Summer School. The initiative is implemented under the overall supervision of Professor Stefania Środa-Murawska, Coordinator of the “YUFE Connects” project.

An important part of the YUFE Students’ Summer Odyssey is also the opportunity to build international academic relationships, exchange experiences and discover Poland’s cultural heritage. The programme includes, among other activities, a two-day study trip to Gdańsk and Malbork.

Two intensive weeks of learning, field research, international exchange and new experiences lie ahead.

The YUFE Students’ Summer Odyssey is organised within the project “YUFE Connects – The European Platform for Academic Cooperation of Nicolaus Copernicus University”. The project is funded by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) under the “Support for European Universities” programme and co-financed by the European Funds for Social Development (FERS 2021–2027).
