Lubica Pospíšilová

Lubica Pospíšilová (born 1962) is a soil scientist in the Department of Geology and Soil Science Mendel University in Brno, Czechia. She joined Academia in 1989. She holds a PhD in Biological Sciences (1989), awarded for her dissertation Study on the soil water regimes, and obtained her habilitation degree in 2011 based on the monograph The spectral properties of humic substances in the context of their heterogeneity. Her research spans several complementary areas:

  • soil organic matter, particularly the methods of determination and identification;
  • soil and environmental education, including translation of scientific classifications for broader audiences;

She is also active in academic as Erasmus+ teacher, in the Czech Soil Society, International Humic Substances Society, and the Czech Academy of Agricultural Science.

Assoc. prof. Lubica Pospíšilová has long-standing involvement in professional scientific organizations. She has been an active member of the Pedological committee of the Czech Academy of Agricultural Science and Czech Pedological Society.

She invented and coordinated several soil related projects of National Agency for Agricultural Research. She co-translated the Czech editions of World Reference Base for Soil Resources (2018). Her initiative led to the introduction of a strictly soil science topics
