YUFE Connects: Research Fellowship at the University of Rijeka on Urban Transformation, Healthy Cities and Climate Change
rom 17 February to 18 March 2026, Katarzyna Kubiak-Wójcicka, Agnieszka Pilarska, and Radosław Golba from the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Spatial Management at Nicolaus Copernicus University completed a research fellowship at the University of Rijeka, Croatia.
The primary objective of the fellowship was to conduct research on the spatial transformation of the City of Rijeka, the Healthy Cities concept, and the impacts of climate change on water resources. Field research was carried out in Rijeka and the northern part of Croatia, focusing on environmental conditions and patterns of urban development.
The fellowship also provided an excellent opportunity to strengthen international cooperation within the YUFE Alliance and to establish collaboration with researchers from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Rijeka. As a result of this cooperation, the partners initiated work on a joint scientific publication, further contributing to the internationalisation of research activities at Nicolaus Copernicus University.
