
From 30 June to 4 July 2025, the field component of the international intensive course “Know Your Landscape, Know Your Soils – Geopedological Workshop” took place in Slovenia. The event was organized as part of the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) by the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Arts.
The workshop brought together students and academic staff from the following European universities:
– University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Arts (Slovenia)
– Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń (Poland)
– Estonian University of Life Sciences, Tartu (Estonia)
– Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies, Jelgava (Latvia)
– Poznań University of Life Sciences (Poland)
– Technical University of Braunschweig (Germany)
– Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (Germany)
The fieldwork focused on the specificity of soil cover in karst, mountainous and alluvial landscapes of Slovenia. Participants analyzed the genesis, properties and classification of several soil profiles based on the WRB system.
The Faculty of Earth Sciences and Spatial Management at Nicolaus Copernicus University was represented by:

The fieldwork was preceded by a series of online lectures, including those delivered by our staff: Assoc. Prof. Marcin Świtoniak and Assoc. Prof. Przemysław Charzyński.
The entire course was developed and coordinated by a team of staff and students from the University of Ljubljana, under the leadership of izr. prof. dr Blaž Repe.
