Aqsa Muhammadi from the University of Salento in Italy will spend six months at the Department of Meteorology and Climatology in our Faculty as a Visiting Researcher. Aqsa is a PhD student in the Department of Biological Sciences and Environmental Technologies at the University of Salento (Lecce, Italy).
She holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences from Sindh Madressatul University and the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Sciences & Technology (Karachi, Pakistan). She has professional experience with the Pakistan Meteorological Department, including work at the Climate Data Processing Center, where she was involved in climate data analysis, long-term dataset processing, and meteorological applications. During her research visit at Department of Meteorology and Climatology, Aqsa will carry out research tasks related to her doctoral dissertation titled: “Analysis of the factors responsible for spatial and temporal variations in tornado occurrence frequency”. The supervisor of the doctoral thesis is Prof. Piero Lionello from the University of Salento in Italy, while the academic advisor during her stay in Poland is dr Sławomir Sulik from the Department of Meteorology and Climatology. In her work, she examines the impact of large-scale environmental conditions on tornado occurrence in various regions of Europe and the United States. Her research interests include extreme events, severe weather, climate variability, and the use of statistical and computational methods for environmental data analysis. We wish you the best of luck and a fruitful collaboration.
