Dr. Yunus Ziya Kaya from the Faculty of Engineering at Ankara University, Turkey, visited our faculty From August 1 to 15, 2026. Dr. Kaya undertook a short-term research stay as part of COST Action CA24144 – ANTICIPATE.
During his stay, he worked on analyzing the interdependencies between drought and flood hazards in the Vistula River basin, aiming to develop a prototype early warning indicator. This work aligns with the activities of Working Group 2 (Linking long-range forecasts with compound hazard dynamics) and Working Group 4 (Developing practical early warning tools for anticipatory action) within the ANTICIPATE Action.
Dr. Katarzyna Kubiak-Wójcicka served as the senior researcher and academic supervisor for the visiting scholar. During his stay, Dr. Kaya familiarized himself with the activities of the Environmental Analysis Laboratory, which were presented by Dr. Adam Solarczyk.
Dr. Kaya also met with the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Marcin Świtoniak; their discussion covered the study programs offered by both faculties as well as prospects for future scientific and educational collaboration.
